Tax on Minerals: Union Steel & Law Ministers discuss impact of Karnataka’s new levy on steel & mining sectors, annual output
Union Ministers HD Kumaraswamy and Arjun Ram Meghwal discussed the impact of Karnataka's proposed taxes on mineral-bearing lands after mining companies raised concerns, noting the heavy burden of these taxes. The Supreme Court ruled that states can tax such mineral rights and lands with retrospective effect from April 1, 2005.
